These verses in Joshua were used in a recent training that we had for our board and staff. The theme for the training was “Presence-Based-Leadership”. This, in short, means to lead from a posture of humility, seeking intimacy with the Father. This is not always being practiced in Christian ministry. We tend to look more like the corporate world. We love to think of how to best do a job and then ask God to bless our efforts. This is a backwards way of thinking and I believe it is offensive to God. What happened to seeking God first, receiving His plans, and then doing what is asked of us?
Here at New Life we have a very clear understanding that this is God’s ministry. We know God has an awesome plan for His ministry. We know He wants us to partner with Him and take steps of faith as we move into the future. Every day that we enter the doors of New Life we’re standing on holy ground. This is a place where people enter our doors looking to have their material needs met. What some people don’t realize is that their real need is of a Spiritual nature and God has led them through the doors of New Life for that purpose. This is an awesome responsibility for our staff and volunteers. We need to be participating in an intimate relationship with the Father to understand His will for His ministry. What message does the Lord have for His servant?
What an amazing thing it is to know that every day there is a purpose and plan for New Life. There are no chance happenings or coincidental meetings. God has ordained all of our days and He orchestrates all that happens within the walls of New Life. We can be found each morning seeking the Lord’s guidance for the day. We pray for every person who will enter our doors. We pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance with both our words and deeds. Our goal is to always seek God’s will for His ministry, receive His plans, and then do exactly what He asks of us. This is a business model that we know is pleasing to the Lord.
